ECO FIRST, EPIC ALWAYS:
Our Commitment to Nature
🌱 Sustainability at Epic Ocean Adventures
At Epic Ocean Adventures Noosa, we go beyond adventure — our passion is protecting the fragile ecosystems of the Great Sandy National Park, Double Island Point, and Noosa waterways for future generations.
Our motto, “Paddles up, engines off”, says it all. By choosing quiet, paddle-powered exploration, we avoid noise, pollution, and stress on wildlife, allowing guests to experience nature at its purest. When the paddles rise, wildlife feels safe and is curious to check us out.

Our Sustainability Journey
Our journey has always been rooted in a deep love for the ocean and the incredible natural surroundings we call home.
From the very beginning, we planned our tours to minimise environmental impact: sticking to designated tracks, avoiding dune damage, respecting nesting areas, and following strict marine approach distances.
We never chase wildlife. Instead, we allow dolphins, whales, and turtles to approach us naturally, on their own terms.
We believe that small businesses can drive big change — our family-run approach means we live our values daily and pass them on to every guest who joins us.
Recognitions & Certifications
We are proud to be Eco Nature Tourism Certified since 2018. A milestone that validates our commitment to best practice in ecotourism and gives us a framework for continuous improvement.
This recognition shows that we:
Exceed environmental regulation requirements.
Contribute directly to the conservation objectives of the Great Sandy National Park.
Educate every guest on how to travel responsibly and protect fragile ecosystems.
Our Sustainability Actions
We put sustainability into action every day, both on and off tour.
Maintain safe distances from marine life and operate by our “paddles up, engines off” moto.
Report sick, injured, or entangled wildlife to QPWS and assist with turtle nest tracking and rescues.
Educate guests on threats such as plastic pollution, boat strikes, and noise disturbance.
Tours are planned around low tide departures to reduce vehicle impact on dunes and vegetation
Guests are encouraged to collect rubbish during tours — everything is disposed of correctly on return.
Elimination of single-use plastics wherever possible; reusable drink bottles and bulk water encouraged.
Recycle bins installed on trailers; brochures and information are now digital to save paper
Free pick-up/drop-off within 10 km to reduce guest car use
Vehicles chosen using the “green vehicle guide,” maintained regularly to minimise emissions
Carbon footprint calculated annually, with unavoidable emissions offset through carbon credits
Use of energy-efficient lighting and strict “switch-off” policy in office and equipment use
Preference for local suppliers and locally made products to minimise transport emissions.
Minimal use of single-use materials on tours (further reducing embodied emissions).
- Using rain and bore water to wash out vehicles.
Monitor and adjust tours around weather, tides, erosion, and extreme events.
Regular participation in local beach clean-ups.
Active member of local conservation programs such as being a Champ at Plastic Free Noosa.

Commitment to the Environment
Conserve – Safeguard fragile habitats, including sand cliffs, dunes, and turtle nesting areas.
Educate – Equip every guest with knowledge of responsible tourism and inspire them to continue protecting nature long after their visit.
Improve – Actively monitor and reduce emissions, waste, and environmental risks across all our operations.
Respect – Honour the cultural significance of these lands and waters, especially for the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people.
At Epic Ocean Adventures, we believe the best thing you can leave behind in these wild places is a footprint — and the lasting inspiration to protect them for future generations.
